Curriculum:
Starter
This is the time of the day when I take care of the managerial things that need to get done first thing in the morning. While I do that, the students work on a self-start activity that prepares them to get started learning.
Math
We will be using the iReady Math Program this year. This program helps students learn counting, addition, subtraction, time, geometry and graphing.
We will also be involved with math timings, where students can progress at their own level as they master their addition facts.
Reading Group Instruction
We will be using "Reading Mastery and Phonics For Reading” as our primary reading programs
this year. We will supplement guided
reading and leveled readers as needed.
Phonics
We will spend time
each day working on skills including sight words, high frequency words, phonics
and spelling. We teach from the Saxon
Phonics/Spelling program that supports our reading programs. I will notify you when we will start sending
spelling lists home (around lesson 20).
Lists for the whole year are included in your back to school
packet.
Homework
Homework should be
returned daily in your child’s homework folder.
Homework includes of course reading! I would ask that you initial each homework page before you return it the next day. Thank you!!
